Football games...who are the real cheerleaders?
I woke up this morning and looked in the newpaper. They have a whole section for high school football. And Cave Spring had lost to Lord Botetourt. 12-24. So disappointing. They have won their last two games against Staunton River and Northside. But that got me thinking. If the cheerleaders were at the game yesterday, who are the real motivators?
You know why I am asking this strange question? The band didn't play that game. Q couldn't get transportation, and it was too far away. And, the past two games that the Knights have won, we have been there; cheering, shouting, playing, motivating. I have even said, 'We are more of a cheerleading squad that the cheerleaders are'.
So, does the outcome of the Lord Botetourt game prove that we really do pump up the football team? No one will ever know, but if we win the next few games, Allegeny (homecoming) and William Byrd (away), maybe we will have proof that the marching band should be at every football game
